Minecraft VR Trapped in Dungeon Quest First Week Reflection

Last time for the Minecraft VR Trapped in Dungeon game, my teammates and I have created a design document for how we will create a Minecraft game in VR. We have slowly but surely are creating the levels from 1 to another. We always have someone trying the game in VR for any suggestions that we may need. If you haven't read the last form, here is the link
https://randomman356.blogspot.com/2018/11/minecraft-vr-trapped-in-dungeon-quest.html
From the beginning of the project to 11/30/2018, we found a village to use for the beginning of the game. We added signs to let the player know what they were going to do and the story. Then, they were traveled to the dungeon, where the villain has created to make the player battle him. After completing that main portion, we have completed level 1 of our game and started to work on level 2. Below, you will be able to see some of my team's creations with the help of me!

Now those are all of my pictures that I would be able to show you guys for my VR Minecraft Project. I am surprised that we are able to start to work on our 2nd level of the game. I personally think that the game is going very well and that I hope it would continue to be completed at around this speed. I think it was very challenging for the team and me to understand what it is like when experiencing the game in VR. I think that the maze is very successful with how it was created and how the traps work perfectly. I hope that next week my group and I could start working on level 3 and finishing level 2. I hope we would also learn more of the bugs and issues that our game has to make it better.

My goals for next week is to accomplish the commands and teleport for the second level and possibly start working on some commands and traps for the 3rd level. I want to learn more commands to complete this game. I know that if I learn these new and different commands, then I should be successful with creating the VR Minecraft game. I had the struggle of facing some commands that I never completed in Minecraft before. For instance, I didn't know how to make a chain command block for a bunch of enemies to spawn at once. I learned it with the help of my teammates and the internet. I had to make sure that I could complete each and every command that is regarding each trap. I think that I am doing a very well job at creating a VR Minecraft game, and I hope that I get even better at creating the levels and challenges for this game.

An Unusual Discovery

I had a fun time completing the quest, An Unusual Discovery. Creating a storyline while using some out of the blue situation is really fun to create. It allows your imagination to run wild and do anything that you want to add to the story. This Scratch quest allows you to learn more about how to use Scratch, allows you to have your imagination run wild, and helps you realize the power of coding and why people love coding so much. I really enjoyed learning how to use Scratch for creating a story and I thought it was a fun, and creative company to help spark your imagination.

Minecraft VR Trapped in Dungeon Quest

Name (s): Kiera, Dahlia, Robbie
Game Title: Trapped in the Dungeon. Genre: Adventures/Puzzle

Tool/platform to create the game: Minecraft/ VR

Storyline:
When you were a child, you had always been inspired by the noble warriors that protected your village every day. You felt as if you were born to be a hero, and you would do anything for that title. You loved looking out your bedroom window to watch the warriors tear down everything from zombies to spider jockeys. You wanted desperately to be one when you grew up. Though you had little money, you were fortunate enough to get into a special school that would teach you everything you needed to know to defeat every single monster that would come and attacks the town. The training was every day after you did your long studies. Your teacher was one of the army generals himself. Every day he told you that if you decided to take this path, you would never leave. He never stopped yelling and his face got so red when he became angry you thought he would explode. The training was very difficult. Because it was every day, you were exhausted by the time you got home. You had to learn about every monster from the spider to the big enderdragon. Your teacher tried his best to prepare you for the ultimate test. It would take you 1 0 challenging, long years to finally pass the test. One night, while you were asleep, you heard the big and loud footsteps. You jumped out of your bed and got on your gear knowing that something terrible was about to happen. You shoved open the door and ran until you saw your commander. You asked what was happening, and he pointed up into the horizon. When you saw it, millions of emotions washed through you. At first, you were scared, then angry, then you felt nervous. A giant zombie was running at your town from a distance. The ground was shaking almost as much as you. The commander began yelling things at you. You understood now what your teacher was telling you. Putting on your brave face, you run and fight the giant zombie. With your handy sword, you begin climbing through the tall trees being burned to the ground. When you made it to the top of the tree, you jump onto the ugly zombie. You could hear your commander cheering you on, telling you that you need to destroy the beast. You climb up his shirt and begin attacking him ferociously. It takes a while, but eventually, he collapses. When you find your way back to the troops, you are surrounded by the townspeople. They lift you up and begin chanting the word you’ve always wanted to be called, Hero. Now that you’re older, and you're the most famous person in town because you saved the village once before. Now, the giant zombie is back, and he’s plotting to destroy the town. With your previous experience with fighting monsters, only you can stop the evil, giant zombie from destroying the town. Are you ready to save our town, Hero?

Playable Character(s):
When you enter the game, you are the hero of the town. Everyone loves you, for you to help them every day by killing the monsters that raid the town.
Get a dog halfway through the game.

Enemies:
Mobs, Traps, Spawners

Boss(es):
2 Giant Zombies: Super big, super scary, and Superbad

NPCs:
Each NPC can describe what to do/ what happens, then they will teleport you to the dungeon with the enemies.

Levels (This should include the look and feel of each level (i.e. if a level takes place in the desert, describe the desert environment, etc.) Provide a detailed written description of each level. You should also include a sketch of the levels or game world. Include elements in the level like specific enemies, bosses, obstacles, distinct areas, etc.

Intro Screen options: (instructions? Play? ) you start at a village, with the NPC waiting for you. He will explain the game and the backstory then he will teleport you for you to begin your quest.

Level 1: you are given golden armor and an iron sword to start. You walk down into the dungeon and can choose between 4 different paths. Each has traps (ie. trip wires, pressure plates, buttons, levers etc.) that either exposes chests with useful items or more mobs or spawners. As you go farther down the levels there are more choices. When you find the lever next to the gold pressure plate you will have reached the end of that level. Pull the lever to open the next level. difficulty level: easy. Mobs: Skeletons, zombies, spiders, and cave spiders (rare).

Level 2: the difficulty level is increased, traps become more common, mobs are more heavily armed. You are rewarded with bone and 2 wolfs to train at the begging of this level. The rewards will also be more beneficial. Ie. food, better armor, and weapons, bows and arrows etc.

Level 3: difficulty level increased, all mobs will wear armor, cave spiders more common and creepers come into effect. Better food is given and traps more common. Another wolf will be given halfway through this level. Better armor can be found in hidden chests. Enchanted armor and weapons enabled.

Level 4: difficulty increase to high. You will fight through mobs spawn mobs of monsters before reaching the next checkpoint. Then you will have a choice of 3 tunnels, each has an array of armor, weapons, food, and enemies hidden in traps. Once you make it though you enter a large room with the boss, a giant skeleton. Once you beat him the NCP will appear again to take you back to the village.

Other: gold pressure plates will be marked along each trial and will act as a checkpoint, resetting the spawn area, the levers next to some of them will signify the end of the level.
Objects: (items that you encounter in the game (i.e. powerups, weapons, coins, armor, etc.)
Golden armor is given to the beginning player with an iron sword.
The player will encounter gold pressure plates that will reset the spawn points

The player will encounter some levers in order to make it to the next level. Find the levers in order to complete the level.

Winning / Losing Scenario:
After you have killed the boss, you will travel to an area in order to show that you have completed the game. If you lose, you will respawn to the latest checkpoint you were last at.

Challenges you anticipate:
Figuring out how the red stone will work
Getting the bad guys into the game

Plan for Automation:
Set spawn
Spawners
Command blocks
Codes (Code Connection)

What about your game will make it feel like it was truly created as a VR experience?

It will be very close quarters and many of the traps involve falling or arrow launchers, this will make it seem as if you are really falling or fighting off mobs of zombies.

What is your plan for creating an immersive VR experience?

Our plan for creating an immersive VR experience is to make the game have the player feel that they are in the game and that they need to find out how to get out of the dungeon levels and kill the boss.

What challenges do you foresee in terms of creating this as a VR experience?

Making sure that the tunnels are not too claustrophobic and making sure that it is fully immersive and fun through VR.

Why do you specifically want to create for VR?

I want to create a game for VR to make the player have the ability to be fully immersed in the game while playing it. The goal is to make the player have the most fun possible, and being in the game is the best way. I want for the person to see all the little details added into the game, and to make them believe that they are truly the hero.

How will we accomplish this goal?

We are planning to create a game using VR with the base game of Minecraft. We are going to learn more about Minecraft to use Redstone for traps the players have to face. We will also have to get used to using VR for testing the game from the beginning. We will have 1 person using the VR every day to help see the issue we have with our game.

Redstone Creation

This is created with the camera and portfolio from Minecraft Education Edition
Each time you step on the pressure plates, the water would disappear.
When you step on the pressure plate on the back, the water would re-appear.
This is an overview of the Redstone creation.
If you ever wanted to try the game, here is the link:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_SjLRwhGoZTyfb6pUMDup-elaeWtcr1J/view
This creation was inspired by MumboJumbo's video on 20 doors in 100 seconds.

TNT Runners

Image result for tnt minecraft cute
Story Line:
After trying to find a perfect game to play with my friends. Thoughts of creating my own game started to rush through my head. Then I realized, what if I recreated a game.  From recreating a game like spleef, it became a game called TNT Runners. While running around, make sure you don't fall down. If you do, you will die.
Level Description:
The levels are cloned after all or almost all of the TNT is destroyed. Even block you step on the will get destroyed after. It is made to have people run over the blocks and survive at the end.
Winning / Losing Scenario:
The loser would be determined by who over falls down first. The rest of the players are the winners and have to use the ladder to get back up and wait until the loser resets the game.
Resources:
Players need no resources what so ever. All they need to know is how to run!
Automation Ideas:
The game is automated via command blocks and NPCs. They make the game run smoothly and get the game to work properly. Image result for cool Minecraft tnt explosion gif

3d Minecraft Build in Mixed Reality

I have personally created a 3d version of a Minecraft Build. I thought it was very cool when you make one, so I will tell you how to make it. First, you have to make a structure. Second, you give yourself a structure block. Third, type in the cord nets of the structure block. Fourth, Click the export button. And Fifth, get onto the mixed reality app on the computer and put your exported structure on the app. And this, is your would be the final image from the Mixed Reality app.

Minecraft Hour of Code Review-10/16/18

Minecraft Hour of Code Review

I played the Hour of Code: Minecraft Edition! I really enjoyed how Hour of Code allows beginners to learn the basics of code. I really enjoyed how it incorporated Minecraft mechanics to let younger kids interested in learning code. I think it is fantastic for people who are new to code, and people who really enjoy Minecraft. I really enjoyed having a challenge for using minecraft with code.

Rating:10/10
For this code, when I hit run, the character, Steve, moved forward twice, turned right, and then destroyed the tree.
